In good company

For one of our fund raisers I designed and build a Challenge Cup that was very well received by the event's participants. I spent a great deal of time and effort trying to find the right components, and contacted many a drag race team in the states and friends in high places. Folks like Cliff Moore of Jon Kaase Racing Engines, and even our old buddy Mike Baker. In the end, my perseverance paid off. The Challenge Cup is pictured on the right.

Now, I am not one to blow my own horn but I must admit that once more, we are in good company. After revealing our Challenge Cup early last summer I keep stumbling across images of similar type trophies used throughout motorsport.

The first one was presented to Neel Jani by Porsche for posting a new lap record of 3:16:887 at the famed Le Mans in 2015 while driving the no 18. Used for this memento was a piston of the actual Porsche 919 Hybrid (LMP1) that raced and won the 2015 24h of Le Mans. To visit the actual news item, click here.

The second one was presented by Traxxas to NHRA funny car driver "fast" Jack Beckman for wining the Traxxas Nitro Shootout at the US Nationals. Beckman beat Robert Hight in the final of the Funny Car bonus event. This trophy resembles my design a bit more at is features two pistons. The image is shown below.

For completeness sake, it's probably the case that I've never remembered previous trophies that resembled my design, just that now I have an interest. Still pretty cool.

2015 Harley-Davidson Braggin' Rights UPDATED

June 4, 2015:
The 2nd Annual Harley-Davidson Braggin' Rights turned out to be great. More than double the number of last year's riders showed up, all vying to take home the much coveted bragging rights. The spectators came out in great numbers too. Naturally, we've been asked to turn this event into an annual trip to the drag strip. Enough said!

From our side, we were completely caught off guard by the quantity of participants and spectators and didn't have enough bar tenders to keep up with demand. Notes have been taken on the subject.

Rather than announcing who won this year's bragging rights, I will refer you to a short video in which those present at the Curaçao Internation Raceway pretty much proclaimed the winner. Please click here to watch the three minute video clip.

Below some pictures of the event, courtesy of Wild Hogs Curaçao.

We'd like to thank Hubert Raper of Asogas Fuel Services for generously allowing the riders to assemble at the new Pablo Frederik gas station in Saliña.

The funds raised will go towards various programs, such as the DRAP, future publications of the FAC pocket size rule book, and of course to the PWF and the Ronald Mc Donald's House Curaçao. Thanks to all who participated. It was great fun!

April 4, 2015
In early January we got a request from Wild Hogs Curaçao M/C to repeat the H-D Braggin' Rights at the track, as they had so much fun at last year's event. We are pleased to announce that we will be taking Braggin' Rights to the track again in May. This time around we will have the event open to all Harley-Davidson's and CRUISERS. Sorry sport-bikers.

Time: 20:00 - 23:00
Place: Pompstation Pablo Frederik / Curaçao Int'l Raceway
Tickets: a. participating bike (includes rider & passenger) Ang. 125,00 *
            b. spectator (fans, friends and family) p.p.           Ang.   50,00 *

A little glimpse of the 2014 HD BR
We will kick off the night at Pompstation Pablo Frederik were we will assemble and await everyone to arrive while enjoying a welcome drink. Around 20:45 the riders will depart on a journey that will take them ultimately to the track. Don Silvio and his crew will turn night into day where we will have the track and timing system to ourselves until 23:00 hrs. While at the track we will be serving premium drinks, as has become customary. Also, Priscilla will be serving a delicious meal that will be as good as last year's "pan ku stoba".

Regarding the tickets, these will be sold only in advance. Please contact your Wild Hogs or Easy Riders representative. Alternatively, contact Danny at 511-5615 but DO NOT wait until the last minute as chances are we will not be able to accommodate you. So, buy your tickets as early as possible to ensure you get to enjoy what looks to be a very memorable evening under the lights.

JD being cool

Last week I got a photo that immediately put a smile on my face. Our friend Jeff Dobbins was sporting our T-shirt in support of our racing efforts, and of course, our beautiful island of Curaçao. Great stuff... thanks man!

I have been harassing him to come down for a few days for some R&R, and if there is enough interest, have him available to answer your questions. Not only is he a great driver (ask Pat who he's often beat off the line with Whathehell's GTO), he's also a past IHRA World Champion who nowadays crew chiefs for the Goforth's in IHRA Pro Stock competition and occasionally substitutes for them as well.

We still have some T-shirts for sale, though mostly are large sizes. Designed by Wicked Grafixx and printed on high quality cotton T-shirts, call me to get yours. Phone 5999-511-5615.
